Since March 2015 and until today, thousands of families in Yemen fled their homes with their clothes only searching for a safe place, shelter, and a new home. Women and children are the most affected, especially the poor that do not have any fault in the war. They are the ones who bear the heavier load. Though each woman has suffered the war differently, they all share one thing in common: the resilient spirit.
The idea of documenting women's lives during a conflict is not new. However, these stories remain under-reported in Yemen, a country torn by war and conflict. My aim is to shade a light on these women’s struggles, portray their situation and produce not only startling portraits but also powerful stories. This is going to be an ongoing project dedicated to the women who survive in the makeshift encampment and who struggle every day to keep hope alive in spite of the hardships surround them.
